Pick a time in the past in which you would have loved to be alive during.  Why? What about it is so appealing?

Create a character who is the exact opposite of you, both positively & negatively.  What do they look like?  What do they sound like?  Create a short background on them.  What is their history?  Where do you see there future going? (can be a page to the beginning of a book… your choice.)

Second writing exercise…

Next time you pass a person on the bus stop or standing on the corner… take a mental picture. Then take some time and write their story. Who are they? Where are they going to or coming from? What are they thinking right now?

Take a song and write for ten minutes. Let the lyrics, melody, or mood inspire you. it doesn’t have to be literal. Let your creative juices flow.
